The mission of the Waukesha Area Homeschoolers is to provide an outlet for local homeschooling families to connect and share ideas with one another. Our main goal is to present our children with opportunities to socialize with peers by providing recreation days, field trips and other activities. All educational and religious philosophies are welcome and respected. The direction of our group is determined by the active participation of our members.

All of our events are coordinated by volunteer members of WAH:

· Library Days: One Friday each month during the school year, our members meet for Library Day. This is our regular monthly meeting, and the most regularly attended event. Members coordinate activities such as craft days, speakers or academic activities.

· Field Trips: Our members are free to plan as many field trips as they wish. Members are free to choose the days of their field trips, provided the dates don't conflict with previously scheduled dates or ongoing monthly activities. We have no formal field trip coordinator, but with the help of our members always have exciting activities to offer.

· Park Days: Park Days are scheduled informally during the summer months.

· Group Outings to Wisconsin Lutheran College Plays, Boerner Botanical Gardens and Zoo Classes: Early registration is required and classes may be cancelled if minimums are not met.

· Message Board: The WAH Message Board is a great resource for information on informal events, advice from other members and curriculum reviews and links. When you join WAH, you will be invited to join our message board.

· Information on area homeschool classes and community events: Through the message board and calendar we will provide information on area events and classes that are of particular interest to homeschoolers.

Joining WAH

Once you've had a chance to attend one of our events, please contact the membership coordinator so that she can send you a link to our automated membership form. This form can be filled out online. You will be asked whether you want to join our message board and listed on our membership directory. Membership directory information is shared only with members of WAH and is never supplied to outside parties. Karie

Please note that our policy of asking potential members to attend an event before requesting membership is a policy that is intended to help preserve the privacy of our members. Since we do supply personal contact information in our directory, this is our method of managing our membership so that only active members are receiving this information.

We currently do not charge a membership fee.
